9 Everyday Things You've Been Doing All Wrong

You probably do things a certain way just because that's how you've always done them or that's how you were taught, so you might be shocked to learn that there are common products you've been using wrong your entire life. You might even be hesitant to give these new methods a try if they differ from what you're used to, but we guarantee these 9 hacks will make your life so much easier, so go ahead and give them a try.

1. Sticky Notes

You've probably been pulling up on the sticky note to remove it from the block, but that just leaves you with a bent memo.

Instead, peel the sticky note off sideways.

2. Spoon Holder

Your pots and pans will typically have a hole in the handle so that they can be hung on a hook, but that's not the only reason – it's also meant to serve as a spoon rest for your cooking utensils.

3. Spaghetti Spoon

Have you ever wondered what that weird spiky cooking utensil is for? Chances are, you have one in your kitchen drawer, but have no idea what it's called or what it does. First off, it's called a spaghetti spoon, and that hole in the middle is not meant to drain water.

The hole in the spaghetti spoon is used for portioning – the amount of dry spaghetti noodles that fills the hole is exactly one serving size.

4. Bobby Pins

Maybe you thought the wavy sides of bobby pins were meant to face outwards as a fashion statement, but they're actually meant to face in – this helps hold the hair in place.

5. Drink Cartons

We usually pour juice or milk by holding the carton with the spout at the bottom, but this can lead to some nasty splashback.

To avoid this, flip it around and hold the carton with the spout at the top – this allows the air exchange to take place unhindered.

6. Tape Roll

You can quickly and easily find the end of the roll of tape by sticking a paper clip under it after each use.

7. Aluminum Foil

Whoever tries to tear a piece of tin foil or plastic film directly from the pack will often have to struggle with the whole roll busting loose from the package. To prevent this, the manufacturer has created makeshift tabs on the sides – simply push them in and this will hold the roll in place, meaning far less headaches for you in the future.

8. Fuel Gauge

Many fuel gauges show a small gas pump flanked by an arrow – this arrow indicates on which side of the car the gas tank is located. This will come in particularly handy when you borrow or rent a car and forget to check it out before pulling up to the gas station.

9. Earbuds

Nothing's more annoying than your headphones falling out when you're out for a nice jog. To prevent this from happening again, put the earbuds in upside down so that the cable can be pulled up and behind your ear.

Who would have ever thought these solutions could be so easy? Few people have ever noticed they were doing these things wrong, or that the proper way to use these products was right in front of them this whole time.
