10 amazing ways to make your life easier with bobby pins

Hair pins usually make sure your 'do stays put even in the worse wind storms. But few know that bobby pins have many more uses. Here are 10 ways that bobby pins can make your life a little easier.

1. Attach your earbuds

Have you had this problem? You're out jogging with earbuds and each step makes them fall a bit further out of your sweaty ear? A bobby pin may be your remedy: Simply attach the cable to the neck of your t-shirt with a bobby pin and never again will that bud pop out mid-jog.

2. Fasten the end of your belt

Sometimes you have a belt that is a bit too long (or too short) to perfectly rest in your pants' belt loops. It looks really sloppy if it's just left hanging, but a hair pin can help attach it to the rest of your belt. You'll look more put together in no time.

3. Mark your page

Did you forget your bookmark? No problem—grab your bobby pin and mark your place until to have a chance to resume your reading.

4. Organize your wallet

Do you have loads of bills flying around your pockets or wallet? Try this: Fold them up and bind them together with a bobby pin. You'll have a far better overview of your available cash.

5. Hammer safely

Unfortunately, there's always a chance you'll get the tip of your finger caught under the hammer. But this trick can help prevent that from happening. Hold the nail with a bobby pin and your fingers will remain in the safe zone.

6. Completely empty your toothpaste container

Just before it's empty, it's usually pretty difficult to get the rest of the toothpaste out of the tube. A bobby pin is also useful here: Press all the toothpaste to the front of the tube and then fold up the back half. Place a bobby pin over the folds and all the remnants will stay near the top in an easy-to-access space.

7. Keep your snacks fresh

Most snacks like candy or potato chips are sold in bags that are rarely resealable. The contents go stale pretty quickly if you leave them be. Try rolling the open end of the bag up and sealing it with a bobby pin. Air won't be able to get in and your treats will stay fresh longer!

8. Save a zipper

Has this ever happened to you? The little tab on your zipper suddenly disappears? If so, you know how difficult it can be to use the zipper without it. But if you fit a bobby pin onto the small ring that's left, it's easy to still use your zipper.

9. Mark the end of the packing tape

When clear packing tape is all rolled up, it's really hard to see where the end is, and even harder to peel the edge up once you finally find it. Try sticking a bobby pin under the end of the tape before you're finished and the next time you need it, you'll be able to see where the tape begins and it'll be easier to get hold of.

10. Collect your bobby pins

One final organization tip: Women (and some men) tend to spread their bobby pins all over the place. There's got to be a good way to collect them again... well, bobby pins are metal. So, next time you want to put them all in one place, try turning a Tupperware container upside down and holding a strong magnet against the back. Scan over the area you have bobby pins lying around and they'll fly to you straight away.

Here are all the tricks once again in a video:

A pack of 72 bobby pins costs less than $1 online. When you consider what all you can use them for, that's a pretty fantastic deal. You'll probably come up with even more uses for these tiny all rounders and if not, well, you can always use them for your hair!
