Chic design: How to create your very own mirrored furniture

Mirrored furniture is very much "in" right now. But if you want to get your hands on some, you'll probably have to pay a steep price. That's why we're showing you how to create your very own mirrored nightstand. And all you'll need is a couple of mirrors and an Ikea set of drawers.

First, you'll need a dresser or nightstand that you'd like to mirror. You can find this kind of furniture for very reasonable prices at any furniture store.

Remove the knobs from the drawers, as they will later be replaced by something better looking.

Then the entire dresser needs to be sprayed with a metallic paint. It's best to use silver paint so that the color suits the mirror.

Now comes the interesting part: every side of the dresser that you want to be mirrored needs to be measured precisely. You can either get the mirror cut to size at a hardware store or save a little cash and do it yourself with a glass cutter. Instructions for doing so can be found here.

The mirror needs to be affixed with an extremely strong glue. A marble or stone glue works best. Simply apply a generous amount of glue to the sides and drawers and press firmly onto the dresser.

Now we're back to the knobs for the drawers. So that the knobs suit the mirrored dresser, opt for knobs that have a wide, flat bottom.

Use a measuring tape to determine exactly where you want the knobs to be on the drawers. Then mark a small spot indicating where the knobs should go.

Since you cannot drill a hole through the mirror, the knobs need to be attached with a strong glue. Select a particularly strong glue so that the knobs stay in place on the glossy finish.

After the mirror and knobs have been stuck on, grab a few clips or clamps and place them gently on the sides to hold it all in place while your project dries. This way your mirrors stay exactly where you want them and cannot be bumped.

After 24 hours of drying your night stand is finally finished. Now you just need to remove the clamps, replace the drawers — and then you're done! Your very own mirrored nightstand!
