How to change your duvet cover like a professional

Annoyed by having to make the bed? Especially with a big duvet, it can become really stressful. It's high time we had a trick to save a few minutes — and the hassle! Here we show you how to do it right, and lightning-quick.

Turn the duvet cover inside out and spread it across the bed. The end with the opening is at the foot of the bed.

Then place your duvet or comforter directly over it and begin rolling it up with the cover, starting at the head end.

You'll need to change sides once or twice, especially with larger duvets.

When you reach the foot end, fold over the end of the roll and flip the "right" side of the cover over the whole roll, as if you wanted to wrap the roll in it.

Now button or zip up the cover to the middle. Then move to the other side and repeat the last two steps, buttoning or zipping the rest.

You're actually almost done. Can you believe it?

The rest is simple: just reach in, untuck the roll, and — nice and neatly — unfurl it back across the bed.

This way the foot end stays at the bottom and the rest unrolls out over the bed towards the head — so simple.

All you need to do now is give it a good shake...

...and arrange your pillows nicely. That's it! Wow, there's nothing like a freshly-made bed with clean sheets.

And if that was a bit too much to wrap your head around, you can watch the whole trick in this video:

Staff in the world's pricier hotels use this trick to make guests' beds. They call it the "Burrito Method" after the way the beloved Mexican snack is prepared. In Northern Europe they named it after a popular, rolled-up pickled herring dish. Hm. I'll take the burrito, but in any case, it's high time to try it out yourself!
