What Your Sleeping Position Says About Your Love Life

How you make your bed can determine a lot about how you lie in it. And how you lie in it can say a lot about what kind of person you are and the state of your love life. Want to know more about who you're sharing your bed with and who's wearing the pants in the relationship? Or maybe you want to avoid potential relationship problems? Your sleeping position can be a great source of information.

Cliffhanger

Both partners sleep on opposite sides of the bed, most often facing the wall. At least one of them is right on the edge of the bed with at least one body part hanging over the side. If this only happens once in a while, it simply indicates a need for a good night's sleep. On the other hand, if this is a permanent position, there is definitely something not quite right between you. Time for a little heart to heart talk, maybe even some relationship advice!

The Crab (left side of image)

This is possible in a variety of forms but always without body contact. People who lie like this in bed need space and freedom. Their partners, however, prefer to cuddle. But as the saying goes, opposites attract.

The Roof

Both partners lie on their backs while SHE cuddles into his armpit. Most often, this only takes place when falling asleep. It's a clear indication of male dominance and feminine devotion.

Pillow Talk

Both partners lie face to face but without any real body contact. This often happens in the early stages of relationships! These couples have a lot to say to one another and like to look into each other's eyes.

Hollywood

This is how movie stars sleep! HE lies on his back and SHE nestles into him like a purring kitten. Her head rests on his chest and their legs are entwined. Really only applies to the "honeymoon phase" of a relationship because sleeping like this is pretty uncomfortable and not a long-term option.

The Love Knot

Both partners lie facing each other while their legs form a sailor's knot for at least 10 minutes. Once both partners have reached deep sleep, the knot tends to come undone. This position indicates a relationship between equals and latent erotic tension.

Classic Spoon (woman on the inside)

In this position, SHE can let him wrap HIMSELF around her with her need for cuddling completely fulfilled. HE, on the other hand, can show his protective instincts by keeping her warm and snug.

Reverse Spoon (with the man inside)

Here HE can show his softer side and let himself be protected and cared for. SHE accepts the role reversal without question and shows that she is a modern woman.

Back to Back

The classic position for falling asleep when a couple still enjoys contact and closeness but also appreciates having their own space. It's the perfect compromise: comfort and intimacy at the same time!

The Freedom Lovers

This position is a lot like the Cliffhanger but close enough so that both partners are still within touching distance. These partners need a good deal of space to ensure a good night's sleep and in all probability they will live a long and happy life together. This is how I sleep, by the way. What about you?

So the next time you get into bed, take a close look at your sleeping positions — you might just notice something you didn't expect. And share this with people you know and let them find out what their sleeping positions say about their relationships!
