DIY: This man built his dream house for less than $10,000 and you can too!
Here's how it started — just a circle of earth in Thailand.
Steve bought a plot of land on his friend's mango farm and started building.
Steve used concrete blocks to build the impressive domes and then cleaned them up.
The original base only cost about $6,000. It would probably be a bit more expensive in North America.
To finish, Steve gave his dome house a lick of orange paint to match the earthy surroundings.
The interior design cost $3,000, but it's certainly worth every dime. Check out this fireplace...
Now let's take a look in the bedroom. This really is the stuff of dreams!
Here's the finished house from the outside again. During the six-week build, Steve got help from two friends with experience in construction.
There's even a wonderful roof terrace on top of one of the domes.
Steve built these steps on the side of the dome so you can walk up to the roof.
The inside also looks incredible. Here's where you can wash the glasses out after your post-work cocktails.
This is Steve's spa area. Or more simply: his shower.
Thought has been given to every last detail. Even the wash basin puts you in the perfect vacation mood.
Next to the living room, there's even a pond with waterlilies.
When the sun goes down, the dome house lights up. Simply stunning.
It's amazing what you can do with creative ideas, a bit of experience and a well-managed budget. Nice job, Steve!
