Clean your pool with a tennis ball!

Summer may be coming to an end, but there are still a few weeks left to enjoy some summer activities — and there's nothing more fun than a dip in the pool, especially if you don't have to travel further than your own backyard. But along with the enjoyment comes the responsibility and keeping a pool clean is a lot of work. After a full summer of dirty feet, sunblock, leaves and pollen, your pool might not be looking so fresh...

So what do you do? Replacing all of the water certainly isn't an option.

Adding chlorine to the pool is a possibility, but not always a desirable one. Many dog and cat owners don't like this option because chlorine can irritate the skin of their pets. And sometimes, pets need to go swimming too! Too much chlorine can also leave your pool looking like this...

Instead of expensive cleaning products, try this simple solution: throw a tennis ball into the water!

Tennis ball

Most tennis balls are made from a blend of nylon and wool and the rough material attracts nasty foreign bodies in the water. And let's face it, a pack of tennis balls is far cheaper than a professional cleaning. This method also works with your laundry! Simply add a tennis ball to your washing machine — hair and dust will be history.

You can also ask your dog to "help," although it may limit the tennis ball's cleaning efficiency. ;)
