Build a wine rack from an old tree stump
You got home from work in time to catch the final moments of the sunset. What's nicer than enjoying a tasty glass of wine to finish off the day? Internet DIYer "MPSPhotography" seems to agree, so he built himself a unique wine rack.
At the start, this project didn't look like anything special. All he had was a chunk of tree trunk that he'd gotten from his father.
First, he removed the bark using a hammer and chisel so the beautiful wood below could show through.
Then he began cutting out round holes along the length of the trunk.
Once the holes were finished, i.e. deep enough for a wine bottle, the trunk really started taking shape. You can almost imagine what the final result will look like.
But there was more to do with the wood. It had to get a coat of oil and varnish so it stayed weather-protected.
Tada! Now all that's missing are the wine bottles.
Wow, I can't believe how easy it was to build a wine rack. All you need is to get your hands on a tree trunk and you too can create a beautiful one-of-a-kind piece — you definitely won't find one of these at big box stores. Similar racks to this one cost anywhere from $300 online, so it's worth it to build one yourself!
