Everyone knows that homemade gifts are the best gifts, and this is never more true than on Mother's Day. But because it can be hard to continually come up with new ideas for DIY presents for Mother's Day, so if you find yourself in a bit of a bind when it comes to gifting, you've certainly come to the right place!  These 3 gift ideas are perfect for the moms in your life, and if you have a small kid that can assist you, even better!

1. Shrinky Dink Keychain

You'll Need:

  • shrink film
  • acrylic paint
  • hole punch
  • split key ring
  • scissors

Here's How:

Preheat the oven to 325°F. Paint the inner surface of the child's hand with acrylic paint and then press the palm of the hand onto the shrink film. Cut out the handprint, punch a hole above the middle finger in the plastic with a hole punch, and put it in the oven for about 2 to 3 minutes. Thread a split key ring through the hole at the end and the handprint is ready to be used as a cute, personalized keychain that any mom would love.

2. Hand in Hand Gloves

You'll Need:

  • paper
  • pen
  • scissors
  • fabric
  • needle & thread
  • adult-sized mittens or gloves

Here's How:

2.1 Outline the child's hand on a piece of paper. You can be generous with the size. Cut out the template and transfer the shape onto a piece of fabric.

2.2 Sew the edges of the fabric so they don't start to fray and place the small fabric glove diagonally on the mitten.

2.3 Sew the small glove onto the large mitten and leave out the area of the wrist so that the child can put their hand into the same glove as Mom.

3. Hand & Footprint Molds

You'll Need:

  • 1 part starch
  • 2 parts baking soda
  • 3 parts water
  • food coloring
  • picture frame

Here's How:

3.1 Mix 1 part starch with 2 parts baking soda and 3 parts water in a bowl. Add the mixture to a pan over low heat, add food coloring, and let it come up to a boil. Allow the mixture to cool and use your hands to form a large, flat circle from the dough.

3.2 Press the child's hand or foot into the dough, let the imprint harden, and stick it in a picture frame for a lasting gift.
