3 Ways To Organize & Store Your Kitchen Utensils

Keeping order in the kitchen is probably one of the biggest challenges when it comes to the housework. Yet it really needn't be that complicated. To tackle the mess, we've gotten hold of a piece of wood and come up with 3 ideas that will ensure every cabinet and every drawer stays tidy!

1. Knife Holder

It's almost impossible to keep large, sharp knives neatly arranged in a drawer. Storing knives in drawers also increases the chance of injury when you're rummaging around for them. Don't worry — there's another way!

You'll Need:

  • 1 wooden board
  • 5 ring magnet
  • 5 screws
  • 2 nails
  • power drill with a lock saw bit

Here's How:

1.1 Take a wooden board, place the ring magnets on top of it and trace around them with a pencil.

Tip: The lock saw bit needs to be the same diameter as the magnets.

1.2 Take the power drill with the lock saw bit and cut into the tracings to create holes.

1.3 Place the ring magnets in the holes and screw them down tightly.

1.4 Use two nails to hang the knife holder to the wall. Your knifes are now within reach and within sight.

2. Rotating Utensil Hanger

The sharp knives have disappeared from the drawer, but your whisks, ladles and other cookware are still in the way. So here's a neat way to organize your kitchen utensils!

You'll Need:

  • 1 round wooden turntable
  • 6 hooks
  • all-purpose adhesive
  • drill

Here's How:

2.1 Use a pencil to mark points at equal distances near the edge of the wooden turntable. Next, carefully drill holes into the wood at these points. Make sure you don't go completely through the turntable! The holes just need to be deep enough for the hooks to be screwed to the turntable.

2.2 You can attach the rotating utensil hanger in an appropriate place in your kitchen. As well as looking great, the hanger permanently removes utensil chaos in your drawers.

3. Cutlery Organizer

Untidy drawers should be a thing of the past thanks to these hacks. Now let's take a look at regular cutlery. While its drawer is usually well designed for separating each utensil, that doesn't stop chaos from returning after a party or family gathering. Yet there's a very simple solution to this problem!

You'll Need:

  • 1 flat wooden board
  • spray paint
  • 1 leather strap
  • 3 nails
  • 6 food cans
  • sandpaper
  • 6 screws
  • Sharpie
  • all-purpose adhesive

Here's How:

3.1 Spray paint all sides of the wooden board and wait until it has dried.

3.2 Cut a piece of leather strap so that it is about the same length as the wooden board. Nail it to the edge of the wooden board, leaving about a ½ inch to each corner. This creates a small handle.

3.3 Remove the lids from food cans and rinse them out. Remove the labels too. Sand down the edges of the cans to prevent any risk of injury later.

3.4 Spray paint the inside and outside of the cans.

3.5 Take a nail and careful hammer a hole into each can.

3.6 Now screw the cans onto the wooden board through the holes; attach three cans onto each side of the wooden board.

3.7 Cut the rest of the leather strap into six small piece and draw utensil symbols onto them. Attach a piece of leather strap onto each can.

As well as looking smart, your portable cutlery organizer is super practical for your next buffet or barbecue. All it takes is a piece of wood to bring a little order to your kitchen. Which idea did you like the most? Have fun organizing!
