4 Banana Peel Hacks That Will Change Your Life

Who doesn't love a good banana? But there's actually so many amazing things you can do with them besides eat them, especially the peel. Here are 4 great tips & tricks for you to try the next time you finish your favorite mid-morning snack.

1. Polish Leather Shoes

Your leather shoes are covered in dirt again and you don't have any shoe polish within reach? No need to despair! Just grab a banana peel and rub the inside of the peel on your leather shoes. The fat in the peel will make them look brand new. Polish your kicks with a soft cloth to make them look extra shiny!

2. Nurture & Replenish Plants

In a container, soak a few banana peels in water for about a week. The banana peel water is an excellent, totally organic fertilizer for all your house plants. That's because bananas are rich in minerals that strengthen plants. You should try to use the peels of organic bananas because those aren't treated with chemicals. And if the leaves on your house plants aren't quite as shiny as they used to be, you can just rub some banana peels on them to give them the glow up they deserve.

3. Whiten Teeth

Unbelievable, but true: You can use banana peels to whiten your teeth! How is that possible, you may ask? Well, as previously mentioned, banana peels contain minerals like magnesium and potassium that are absorbed by the teeth and make them appear whiter. The great thing about it is that this natural method of "bleaching" your teeth isn't abrasive and won't destroy your enamel. Just rub your teeth with the inside of a banana peel. Leave the remnants on for about 2 minutes. Afterward, rinse your mouth to get rid of any banana gunk. Repeat the process for a few days in a row and be prepared for visible results after only 3 weeks.

4. Fight Acne

You'll Need:

  • 1 banana peel
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar

Here's How:

Bananas contain zink, magnesium, and iron, which means they have anti-inflammatory properties. They also contain a large amount of starch which absorbs excess oil that can clog up pores. To fight acne with a banana peel, you can either gently rub the inside of a banana peel against your face, leave it on for a few minutes and then wipe it off. But you can also take it to the next level and make your own banana peel facial. Put some oats, brown sugar and one banana peel into a blender and rub the paste onto your skin. Leave on for about 10 minutes and then simply rinse everything off.

Who else is shook over how versatile banana peels are? This miracle fruit can save your face, wardrobe, and your plants, so the next time you're about to throw one in the trash, remember these amazing tips and tricks!
