4 Festive Fall Decorations

When the days start getting shorter and the temperature starts to drop, everyone starts thinking about the fall season. Autumn is the perfect time of year to start doing more indoor activities, which means it's also the perfect time make your home as cozy as can be! 1. Pumpkin Candle Holders

Pumpkins and fall go together like 2 peas in a pod. Carving pumpkins is fun and they look beautiful, but unfortunately they go bad quickly. If you want to keep the magic of pumpkin decorations alive for longer, you can make some cute DIY cement pumpkins that can be reused year after year!

You'll Need:

  • pantyhose
  • scissors
  • cement
  • rubber bands
  • vegetable oil
  • tea light

Here's How:

1.1 Cut the legs off of a pair of pantyhose, then fill them with a generous amount of cement. 

1.2 Tie the top in a large, secure knot and use rubber bands to create the grooves of the pumpkin.

1.3 Brush some vegetable oil over the surface of a tea light and press it into the top of the cement pumpkin before it dries. Once the cement is dry, remove the rubber bands and the tea light. Feel free to either keep the pumpkin candle holders their original color, or paint them with acrylic paint once they're dry. Now you have a cute pumpkin-themed candle holder for all of those cozy fall nights!

2. Framed Fall Animal

Collecting acorns while you're out on an autumn walk is a cute way to get the fall feeling started. And transforming acorn shells into adorable crafts and decorations is a great way to bring that fall feeling into your home! The next time you're outside, keep an eye out for acorn shells so that you can use them to make a cute framed fall animal decoration.

You'll Need:

  • picture frame
  • brown paint 
  • hot glue
  • acorn shells

Here's How:

Draw the silhouette of a squirrel or another fun fall animal on the piece of cardboard that sits behind the picture frame, then fill the shape of the animal in with brown paint. Let the paint dry, then use a hot glue gun to glue the acorn shells on top of the outline of the animal you painted. Close the picture frame and your 3D fall decoration is ready to be displayed.

3. Lovely Leaf Lighting

If you're already outside collecting acorns, make sure keep an eye out for colorful leaves, too! You can use them to spruce up a string of fairy lights add an extra cozy element to your home.

You'll Need:

  • leaves
  • parchment paper
  • iron
  • hot glue gun
  • string of fairy lights

Here's How:

3.1 Place the leaves you collected between 2 sheets of parchment paper and iron them. The heat from the iron will preserve the colorful autumn leaves, plus it will give them a little extra shine.

3.2 Once the leaves have cooled, use a hot glue gun to glue them onto a string of fairy lights and use the lights to decorate your living space. They look great draped over a railing or a curtain rod. This adorable fall decoration will really brighten up your home!

4. Paper Pumpkin Lanterns

We already mentioned how lovely pumpkins look in the fall, so we thought we'd show you how to make another great pumpkin-themed decoration for your home. These gorgeous paper pumpkin lantern are great eye-catching decorations for dinner parties or fall get-togethers!

You'll Need:

  • craft punch
  • card stock
  • craft glue
  • parchment paper
  • LED tea light

Here's How:

4.1 Cut 12 long, ovular strips out of card stock and use the craft punch to punch out some fall-themed designs.

4.2 Cut 12 long, ovular strips out of parchment paper and glue them to the decorated card stock ovals.

4.3 Cut a circle out of the card stock and glue all of the decorative ovular strips onto it in the shape of a flower. 

4.4 Cut 4 long, rectangular strips out of card stock and fold them at both ends. 

4.5 Cut a thick ring, approximately the same size as the circle, out of card stock. Glue the rectangular strips onto the paper circle so that they're sticking straight up, then glue the paper ring at the top.

4.6 Glue the decorative ovular strips to the paper ring, making sure to attach them to the bottom of the ring – this will hide the unsightly ends of paper and the glue.

4.7 Cut another circle out of card stock. Flip over the paper pumpkin lantern and hide all of the visible edges by gluing the circle over them. Use LED tea lights to give these lanterns a gorgeous glow and light up your home!
