4 Utterly Amazing DIY Projects With Fall Leaves

Everyone has their favorite season, but fall holds a particularly special place in our hearts for a multitude of reasons. There's sweater weather, the general coziness that the season exudes, and of course the decorations! Not to mention, the spectrum of colors for fall-themed decor is simply stunning – warm yellows, bright oranges, rust reds, and soft browns all trying to capture the beauty of the changing leaves outside. In that spirit, we've created 4 gorgeous DIY crafts and decorations with fall leaves that will make you fall in love with fall all over again!

1. Leaf Earrings

You'll Need:

  • leaves
  • wooden boards
  • nails
  • hammer
  • wire
  • pliers
  • earring hooks

Here's How:

1.1 Choose a leaf that you like, place it on a wooden board, and hammer nails into the wood along the outline of the leaf.

1.2 Using a pair of pliers, bend a piece of wire around the nails so that you get the shape of the leaf. Cut off the wire at the end and knot the ends together so that there are no sharp edges. Hang an earring hook in the leaf, repeat the entire process, and you have your own gorgeous pair of autumnal earrings.

2. Leaf Keychain

You'll Need:

  • fall-colored playdough
  • small rolling pin
  • leaf
  • scalpel
  • split ring

Here's How:

2.1 Place 3 pieces of playdough on your work surface, each one in a different fall color (yellow, orange, and red). Roll the playdough flat with a rolling pin and put the pieces together again crosswise before flattening them so that the individual colors run into each other nicely.

2.2 Place a leaf on the playdough and cut out its shape with a scalpel or knife. Make a hole at the bottom of the leaf so you can pull a split ring through it later. Also trace the leaf veins with a pin. Put the leaf on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, put it in the oven at 225°F for 30 minutes, and enjoy your fall-themed keychain.

3. Leaf Lantern

You'll Need:

  • wax paper
  • colorful leaves
  • hand towel
  • iron
  • 4 wooden strips, equal length
  • glue
  • 8 shorter wooden strips, equal length

Here's How:

3.1 Place a colorful mixture of leaves on one half of a rectangular sheet of wax paper before folding the paper so that the leaves are in between the paper halves.

3.2 Put a hand towel over the wax paper and glide a hot iron over it once.

3.3 Glue 4 wooden strips vertically on the wax paper.

3.4 Bend and glue the sheet into the shape of a lantern. Glue 4 short wooden strips on top and bottom of the wax paper so the lantern stands upright and is stable. Carefully place a lit candle inside and enjoy the sight of your beautiful autumnal leaf lantern!

4. Leaf Wreath

You'll Need:

  • wire ring
  • leaves
  • chestnuts
  • acorns
  • pliers

Here's How:

Thread the individual leaves onto the wire ring. Alternately, you can also put a chestnut and an acorn on the wire. At the end, knot the ends of the wire and pinch off the rest. You can also hang a nice, big leaf in the middle. Celebrate fall in style with this stunning autumnal wreath!
