Growing your own fruit and vegetables is obviously all the rage these days and with good reason. Whether it's a community garden or your own garden, growing your own tomatoes, garlic, avocados, and more can be super rewarding, and not just because the fruits of your labor will taste much better than anything you can get at the grocery store. But even if you don't happen to have access to a garden, you can still veg it up. We're going to show you 4 tips and tricks for starting your own home garden, no fuss involved. You can even grow your own peanuts! Nuts, right?!

1. Tomatoes

You'll Need:

  • tomato
  • flower pot
  • potting soil

Here's How:

Cut a slice out of the middle part of the tomato and place it in a flower pot with potting soil. Put some soil on the tomato slice, put the flower pot in a place with direct sunlight, and be sure to water it regularly. It should always be moist but not soaking wet. After 7-14 days, you'll be able to see the first results. This really is the easiest way ever to grow your own tomatoes – you don't even need to buy any seeds!

2. Peanuts

You'll Need:

  • peanut shells
  • cloth
  • glass with water
  • zipper storage bag
  • flower pot
  • potting soil

Here's How:

2.1 Peel a couple of peanuts and place them on a cloth.

2.2 Wrap up the cloth with the peanuts and soak it in water for about an hour.

2.3 Now put the cloth with the nuts in a zipper storage bag and let the nuts sprout for about 5 days.

2.4 Then transfer the peanuts to a flower pot with potting soil. Peanuts do best in a place with direct sunlight and when moist (not wet), and pretty soon, you'll be able to see the first shoots.

3. Garlic

You'll Need:

  • garlic
  • toothpicks
  • glass with water

Here's How:

3.1 It's super easy to grow garlic even without a garden. Simply poke 4 toothpicks into a garlic bulb and place it over a glass filled with water so the bottom of the garlic dips into the water.

3.2 You'll be able to see the first results after 15 days, and then you can plant the garlic bulb in a pot with potting soil. Garlic needs to be kept in a place with direct sunlight and doesn't need much water.

4. Avocados

You'll Need:

  • avocado seed
  • paper towels
  • glass with water
  • zipper storage bag
  • flower pot
  • potting soil

Here's How:

4.1 Wrap the avocado seed in a piece of paper towel and dunk it into a glass of water. Place the wet paper towel with the seed into a zipper storage bag and store it in a dark place for about 4 weeks.

4.2 Once the seed has started to sprout, you can plant it in a pot with potting soil. Avocados do best in a place with lots of direct sunlight and need quite a bit of water.

See – it's totally possible to become a master gardener even if you don't have access to a garden! You can do it right from the comfort of your home. Growing your own vegetables is a lot of fun, and the literal fruits of your labor definitely make all the effort worth it. Avo-can-do!
