4 Brilliant Summer Party Hacks

Summer is at its peak. The days are still long, the evenings are warm, and in general, everyday life moves to the outdoors. To make your time in the summer sun as comfortable as possible, here are 4 genius tips and tricks to help you make the most of it.

1. Protect Your Drink

Everyone knows this problem: you're at an outdoor party and BOOM, a gust of wind blows some debris into your open glass. Now you can keep all the yucky things out of your cup with the following trick.

You'll Need:

  • 2 plastic straws
  • scissors
  • iron
  • parchment paper

Here's How:

1.1 Cut the straws into small pieces and place them in a circle on a piece of parchment paper. Fold the parchment paper over the straw pieces and iron over it.

1.2 Use a pair of scissors to cut the lid to the right shape. Heat the tip of a screwdriver and push it through the center of the lid. Place the lid on your glass, push a straw through the hole, and sip away!

2. Watermelon Smoothie

A watermelon smoothie is the perfect drink for hot summer days! Oh, but you don't have a blender on hand? No problem! With our trick, you'll get your drink mixed and ready in a jiffy!

You'll Need:

  • wire hanger
  • tongs
  • cordless screwdriver
  • knife
  • plastic cup
  • scissors
  • googly eyes
  • marker

Here's How:

2.1 Use pliers to snap off the lower part of a wire hanger. Bend it, as shown in the video, and clamp it as an attachment on the cordless screwdriver.

2.2 Cut a hole in a watermelon and use your homemade whisk to crush the pulp through this hole.

2.3 Stick two googly eyes on the watermelon and draw a nose with a marker – what a happy melon!

2.4 Cut off a piece of the melon on the bottom so that it won't roll.

2.5 Cut a plastic cup for a tongue spout and insert it into the hole.

3. Water Balloon Ice Cubes

If you don't have enough ice cube trays on hand, this trick works great in a pinch, and it doesn't leave a mess like melted ice does.

You'll Need:

  • balloons
  • water

Here's How:

Fill the balloons with water and freeze them.

4. Repel Mosquitoes

Mosquitoes are the worst, so make sure they never even come near you.

You'll Need:

  • 1 lemon
  • cloves

Here's How:

Slice a lemon, place the slices on a plate, and push the cloves into the pulp. The scent deter mosquitoes so you can relax in the open air without worrying about these nasty bloodsuckers.

Summer just got a whole lot better!
