6 Simple Easter Egg Dyeing Hacks

Nothing complements Easter weekend quite like sitting down with the family to dye some Easter eggs. It's an activity that brings everyone together in its simplicity and lets everyone embrace their creativity. But using pre-made dyes or stickers can feel a bit like a cop out if you do it year after year, so this year why not try something different? These 6 simple hacks will help you take your Easter egg decorating to the next level. They're to dye for!

1. Dye Easter Eggs With Decorative Tape

You'll Need:

  • hard-boiled eggs
  • decorative tape
  • water
  • food coloring or Easter egg dye

Here's How:

1.1 Wrap decorative tape around a hard-boiled egg to make a fun pattern. Add food coloring or Easter egg dye to a cup of water, then place the decorated egg in the water.

1.2 Leave the egg in the colorful water until the eggshell changes color. Once it does, remove the egg and let it dry completely, then peel off the decorative tape. Wrap another layer of decorative tape around the egg in a different pattern than before. Add a different color of food coloring or dye to a cup of water, then put the egg in the colorful water.

1.3 Once the egg has been dyed, remove it from the glass and let it dry. Peel off the decorative tape, and your geometric Easter eggs are ready!

2. Dye Easter Eggs With Rice

You'll Need:

  • hard-boiled eggs
  • resealable plastic bag
  • rice
  • food coloring

Here's How:

2.1 Put some uncooked rice in a resealable plastic bag along with a few drops of food coloring. Put a hard-boiled egg into the plastic bag, seal it, and gently knead the rice, moving around the hard-boiled egg until you're happy with its color.

2.2 Take the egg out of the bag and and display it somewhere where you can marvel at its beautiful marbled design.

3. Dye Easter Eggs With Onion Peels

3.2 Heat some water in a pot and dye it with food coloring. Place the eggs wrapped in pantyhose in the boiling water and cook them.

3.3 Remove the eggs from the water once they're hard-boiled, let them dry, and take them out of the pantyhose. Discard the onion peels and enjoy your beautifully patterned Easter eggs.
