1. Tree Trunk Side Table

You'll Need:

  • 1 cross-section of a stump
  • wood oil
  • metal base
  • screws
  • drill

Here's How:

To make a gorgeous decorative side table out of a tree trunk, cut a thick, round piece of wood off of a tree stump, making sure that it's flat and even on both sides. Sand the tree trunk to make it smooth, then rub wood oil (e.g. teak oil) generously over the surface of the wood and let the oil dry. Attach the base of the table onto the bottom of the wood using screws, and your DIY side table is ready to go! It makes a nice, natural accent for any room in your home!

2. Fall Floating Candles

You'll Need:

  • tall glasses
  • twigs, cut to size
  • floating candles
  • water

Here's How:

To create some stunning fall ambience in your home, start by cutting some twigs and placing them inside a few tall glasses. Fill the glasses with water and place 1 floating candle in each once. Once you light the candles, your home will transform into a cozy, autumnal haven.

3. Magnificent Mushrooms

You'll Need:

  • eggshells, halved
  • empty egg carton
  • cement
  • branches, cut to size
  • paint

Here's how:

To make the top of the mushroom, thoroughly clean out the empty halves of some eggshells. Brush a thin layer of oil over the inner surface of the eggshells, place them in an empty egg carton, and fill the eggshells with cement. For the mushroom stems, cut some pieces of large sticks or small branches to size, and insert 1 piece of wood into the center of each eggshell filled with cement. Let the cement dry, then remove the eggshells so that you're left with just the cement and wood. Paint your decorative mushrooms with polka dots, bright colors, or fun fall designs, and display them around your home and garden. Mushrooms are as key to fall as the colorful leaves on trees are, and they're sure to liven up any room in your home!

4. Autumnal Candle Holder

You'll Need:

  • thick branch, cut to size
  • drill
  • hole cutter drill bit
  • saw
  • tea lights

Here's how:

Making a gorgeous new candle holder for your living room or bedroom couldn't be easier! Use a saw to cut a large tree branch (we used a branch from a birch tree) down to the desired size. Drill evenly spaced holes the size of tea lights into the tree branch using a drill and hole cutter drill bit, then place the tea lights inside. Add a few cute accents around the candle holder, like fairy lights or a few colorful leaves, and your homemade candle holder will give any room some fall flair.

5. Fun Fall Friend

You'll Need:

  • 1 receipt spike
  • leaves
  • 1 apple
  • 1 acorn
  • 2 googly eyes

Here's How:

To make a decorative fall friend, start by collecting some colorful leaves outside. Stack the leaves one on top of another on the receipt spike, then stick the apple and acorn on top. Stick 2 google eyes on the apple, and your adorable new fall friend is ready to accent your shelf or desk! Real leaves and apples look great and are fun to collect, but they also tend go bad pretty quickly. If you'd like your fall friend to stick around for longer, feel free to use artificial leaves and apples instead.

6. Tree Bark Lanterns

You'll Need:

  • birch tree bark
  • hammer
  • nail
  • glass jars
  • twine
  • tea lights

Here's how:

To make some homemade fall lanterns, cut some pieces of birch tree bark to size so that they fit snugly around the outside of the empty glass jars. Place the pieces of tree bark on a safe work surface, like a spare piece of wood, and use a hammer and nail to make small decorative holes in the bark. Make 2 holes on both edges of each piece of bark and thread pieces of twine through the holes on 1 end. Wrap the strips of birch tree bark around the empty glass jars and secure them with the twine. Place the tea lights inside the jars, light them, and the glow of your new lanterns will be sure to put you in a cozy fall mood!
