Are you always on the go and looking for some genius life hacks to make your next overnight stay more pleasant? Then you've come to the right place! The following 7 tips and tricks are going to change the way you travel forever! No more leaky bottles, say goodbye to tangled necklaces, and find out what a difference a contact lens case can make!
1. Traveling With Toiletries
- ziploc bag
This has got to be the most life-changing hack since the invention of travel! To prevent your body wash and shampoo from leaking all over your suitcase, unscrew the caps, put a ziploc bag over the bottles, and put the lids back on. Now you can kiss leaky toiletries goodbye!
2. Portioning Toothpaste
- parchment paper
- baking soda
If you don't feel like bringing along a whole tube of toothpaste on your next trip, we've got just what you need! To make individual toothpaste portions, pipe small drops of toothpaste on a piece of parchment paper, sprinkle baking soda on top, and and let them dry. These toothpaste drops are perfect for traveling – just put one in your mouth, chew it a little, and then come in with your toothbrush to brush your teeth as per usual.
3. Sensibly Storing Necklaces
You can use straws to sensibly store necklaces in bags and suitcases without them getting tangled. Just slide the chain through the straw and clasp the ends together as usual.
4. Mini Deodorant
- deodorant stick
- empty, ball-shaped lip balm container
Cut off a chunk of your deodorant stick and heat it up. Pour the liquid into the bottom half of an empty, ball-shaped lip balm container and let the deodorant harden. Now you can take your convenient mini deodorant with you wherever you go!
5. Store Razors Safely
- binder clip
To make sure you don't cut yourself when grabbing for your razor in your toiletry bag, clamp a binder clip over the razor. This way, it's stored safely even if you've lost the original protective cap or it's broken.
6. Shampoo & Body Wash Holder
- contact lens case
Wan to save valuable luggage space on your short getaway? Simply pour shampoo, conditioner, or body wash into a contact lens case. The case will seal in the liquids and is easy to store!
7. DIY Makeup Bag
- needle & thread
- hot glue
- cord lock
7.1 Cut out 2 equal circles from a piece of fabric.
7.2 Singe the edges so the fabric doesn't fray.
7.3 Cut out a tube for the drawstring from the rest of the fabric. Hot glue the fabric tube all around one of the circles. The tube should almost enclose the circle, but not completely.
7.4 Now glue the other circle to the fabric tube from the other side.
7.5 Turn everything inside out and pull the cord through the tube. Connect both ends with a cord lock and your DIY makeup bag is ready to go! Just put all your makeup essentials in the center of the bag and pull the cord to close it.
