Five alternative ways to use a condom

Most things around us are created for a specific purpose, but that doesn't mean they can't be used for other things, too.

Maybe you have a box of condoms lying around that, for one reason or another, aren't being used. Well, the good news is that you don't need to throw them out — after all, they aren't exactly cheap. With a bit of imagination you can put those condoms to use in ways that you probably never thought of before...

For some of these tips, be sure to use non-lubricated condoms.

1. Waterproof protection for your electronic devices.

It's the middle of summer and the heat is on. You want to go for swim but you don't want to leave your expensive phone on the beach where someone could easily steal it. Well, if you happen to have an non-lubricated condom handy, you can use it as a waterproof sack for your phone and keep it tucked in your bathing suit while you enjoy a cool, refreshing dip.

This is also a great way to transform your phone into an underwater camera.

2. Waterproof protection for your injuries

If you're injured and wearing a bandage, taking a shower can be tricky. To keep the bandage from getting wet, cut off the closed end of a condom to form a tube and pull it over your arm. There's no chance it's getting wet now!

3. Wrist rest

When you use a mouse for a long period of time, your wrist can get stiff and painful. Some people use a "wrist rest" which helps to prevent these problems. To make one yourself, simply fill a condom with water, put it under your wrist and enjoy the comfort.

4. Shoe polish

Your leather shoes are a mess and you've run out of shoe polish? No problem. If you have a lubricated condom, you can use it to shine your shoes — the lubricant works almost as well as normal shoe polish.

5. Wet uses

If you fill your condom with water, you can:

There are also more playful uses, like making an anti-stress ball. Simply fill the condom with flour and you have a nice object you can knead in your hands to alleviate stress.
