Build a gorgeous bookshelf by "upcycling" old grocery crates

Decluttering is never a bad idea. But on the other hand, you might just need more shelves.

You know those wooden crates food producers use to transport everything from veggies to wine? You can use them to fashion a quick, stylish solution to the mess.

You’ll need:

  • wooden crates (ask at your local grocer, wine shop, or of course, online)
  • wood varnish and a large paint brush
  • wood glue
  • large binder clips
  • drill and screws

Here's how:

First, varnish the crates. Really, do it. It’ll make all the difference, even though it takes some real elbow grease.
