How To Finger-Knit Your Own Scarf – It's Time To Get Soft & Cozy!

When everyone around you is coughing, sneezing, and burying their faces in tissues every few seconds, you know it's time to dig out the hats, scarves, and gloves and get ready for winter. And there's nothing better than a cozy, handmade scarf just like the one grandma used to make. Even if you don't know how to knit, you can still make your own unique creations with a simple, old-fashioned technique.

You'll Need:

  • 2 balls of yarn, jumbo or super chunky, 328 feet long
  • scissors

Here's How:

1. Take hold of the ends of both balls of yarn and pull them out to about six arm lengths each. Now lay both ends on your wrist and make a loop.

2. Use your free hand to make a second loop.

3. Now lay this loop on the other hand.

4. Repeat this process until you have 12 loops.

5. Now lay the loops on your other arm. Switch arms row by row.

6. The scarf will get longer and longer and when it is long enough, the last row can be cast off. Then you can make a knot and cut off the excess yarn at the end.

7. To finish off you can lay the ends of the scarf overtop of each other and sew them together.

8. And now you have a new, handmade loop scarf — so warm and cozy!

It takes a bit of work, but in the end you'll have a lot to show for it. And it will help you appreciate what your grandma did for all those years, too!
