Say hello to Jack Frost: From empty bottles to lovely X-mas decorations

Be honest: do you really have all your holiday decorations ready? If you're still looking for something special this year, try the perfect trick. It's quick and nearly effortless to implement. And the result is truly impressive.

You'll need:

  • empty wine or champagne bottle
  • rubbing alcohol (or acetone)
  • white spraypaint (here's an example)
  • craft glue
  • coarse salt

Here's how:

First make sure that the label is completely off the bottle and it's all clean. The best dissolvent is rubbing alcohol or acetone, although sometimes just putting it through a cycle of the dishwasher works too.

Now comes the primer with the bottle of spray paint. After spraying the whole bottle let it dry thoroughly.

When the paint is dry, apply the glue and then roll the bottle on a bed of salt.

Let it dry again and once the glue has taken, spray one more layer of paint on. That's it! Adding an ornamental silver branch like this one turns it into a very pretty decoration. Try it out.
