3 Homemade Soaps That Look Good Enough To Eat

Making soap yourself sounds a lot more complicated than it actually is. In fact, you only need a few basic ingredients and our handy-dandy tutorial. The following DIY soaps are perfect for anyone who loves to pamper their hands, and they make great gifts, especially for the foodies in your life. Just make sure not to leave them around anyone who might mistake them for food, because they are that realistic!

1. Orange Honey Soap

You'll Need:

  • bar soap
  • ⅔ cup milk
  • 1 tbsp almond oil
  • orange zest
  • essential oil of choice
  • 2 tbsp honey

Extra:

  • small container
  • bubble wrap

Here's How:

1.1 Grate the bar of soap over a bowl.

1.2 Melt the soap over a hot water bath.

1.3 Add the milk, almond oil, orange zest, and essential oil to the bowl and stir everything to an even mass. Finally, add the honey.

1.4 Put a piece of bubble wrap in a small food container, pour the liquid soap inside, and let it sit for about 20 minutes, or until hard. Remove the soap from the container and enjoy!

2. Cinnamon Roll Soap

You'll Need:

  • bar soap
  • 2 tbsp almond oil
  • cinnamon
  • 2-3 drops of vanilla essential oil
  • soap colorant 

Extra:

  • aluminum foil
  • loaf pan
  • white liquid soap

Here's How:

2.1 Line a loaf pan 1/3 of the way up with aluminum foil.

2.2 Melt the grated soap bar over a warm water bath, add the ingredients, and mix well.

2.3 Pour the liquid soap into the pan.

2.4 Sprinkle cinnamon on top and let sit for about 10 minutes.

2.5 Remove the aluminum foil strip with the soap from the pan and cut it lengthways.

2.6 Roll up both strips of soap.

2.7 Mix the rest of the almond oil and cinnamon, brush it over the soap rolls, and drizzle white liquid soap on top for that fresh-out-of-the-oven look.

3. Candy Apple Soap

You'll Need:

  • bar soap
  • 1 tbsp almond oil
  • essential oil of choice
  • soap colorant 

Extra:

  • popsicle stick
  • silicone putty
  • apple
  • coarse salt

Here's How:

3.1 Shape silicone putty around an apple and let sit for about 20 minutes.

3.2 Remove the putty from the apple.

3.3 Melt the grated soap bar over a warm water bath, add the additional ingredients, and mix well.

3.4 Pour the liquid soap into the silicone mold and let it sit for about 20 minutes, or until hard.

3.5 Remove the silicone mold and stick a popsicle stick in the soap apple.

3.6 Dip the soap apple into the liquid soap and sprinkle some coarse salt on top.
