This dad built his daughter a bed fit for a princess
Many little girls want to be princesses. This dream has come true for the daughter of Henry Hooker. Her dad built her a real-life princess bed!
Henry didn't just wing it, he planned his daughter's dream bed down to every last detail. Not only can she sleep here, it also has a built-in dresser, bookshelf, and space for playing.
The first step was to draw the appropriate measurements onto the pieces of wood he'd purchased.
Then he attached the walls to what would eventually be the sleeping surface of the bed. You can already see the project taking form.
Next he attached the tub-like bed frame onto its base.
Don't forget the royal steps...
To make sure his little princess wouldn't take a tumble, Henry attached this railing in front of the stairs.
Dad decided to personalize this throne, so he found a wooden "B" for his daughter's initial to add to the final project.
Of course, it had to be painted pink.
As did the stairs, with a few purple highlights here and there.
He wanted the playroom to eventually glow pink so he added a few LED lights to the foundation. Playing under the bed in pink light is double the fun!
And finally, the finished project — a bed fit for a princess:
Below the stairs is a collection of favorite books and mementos. A goodnight story is always at hand.
As if the bed itself wasn't good enough, the soft pink glow makes for a beautiful night light to help the little one fall asleep.
Henry's daughter is all smiles — she loves her new princess bed.
I'm sure any little girl would adore having this in her room. Henry has certainly set the bar high for all the other dads out there!
