How to use magnets for those hard-to-clean spots

After fresh flowers have seen their last days and go back to the earth from which they came, the inside of the vase is not a pretty sight. And when the vase happens to be long or curvy, attempting to clean it through the narrow opening can certainly be a challenge. With the help of this magic trick, those hard-to-reach spots are no longer a problem.

You'll need:

  • neodymium magnet (or any very strong magnet)
  • sponge
  • box cutter
  • needle and thread

Here's how:

Cut a standard sponge to the size of the magnet. If the sponge is too big, it can be a hassle to move it and may not be able to fit through the opening of the vase.

Using the box cutter, cut a hole in the sponge.

And place the magnet inside.

Close the opening by using the needle and thread. Repeat all steps a second time so that you have a counterpart for the sponge.

To clean, one sponge is placed outside of the vase, and the other on the inside. Now you can easily clean the vase from top to bottom.
