7 Tips & Tricks To Cure The Summer Sweats

Summer can be a sweaty affair in the truest sense of the word, especially if you're unlucky enough to find yourself in a place without air conditioning. Once temperatures rise above 90°F (32°C), even the smallest things—like finding yourself in a crowded subway car, hauling your groceries home, or discovering you've run out of deodorant—can become major situations. But thanks to the following tips and tricks, beating the heat (and the resultant sweat) will be no problem for you this summer.

1. Prevent Sweat Stains

To prevent unsightly pit stains on your T-shirt, cut a pantyliner in half, turn the shirt inside out, and stick half of a pantyliner in the armpit area of the sleeve. This way the padding will directly catch the sweat before it seeps through your shirt.

2. Remove Sweat Stains

If the sweat stains have already set, you can remove them with the following home remedy.

You'll need:

  • 5 oz baking soda
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp hydrogen peroxide
  • 8 fl oz + 1 tsp vinegar

Here's how:

a) Mix the ingredients together in a bowl.

b) Drain the liquid so that only the pulpy mass remains.

c) Rub the paste on the stain and let sit for 30 minutes.

3. Soothe Chafed Thighs

If your thighs are rubbing together and creating painful and unsightly red spots, apply roll-on deodorant to the inner thighs for instant relief.

4. Remove Sweat Odors

To completely rid your shirt of that foul mix of sweat and B.O., soak it in a mixture of water and vinegar for about 20 minutes, and then wash it as usual in a washing machine.

5. Homemade Deodorant

If you want to try a chemical-free, DIY deodorant, you can easily make your own with cornstarch and baking soda. Stir the ingredients together in a bowl and apply the powder to your armpits with a cotton pad.

6. Prevent Sweat Stains on the Chest

Pantyliners are a jack of all trades when it comes to health hacks. If you want to prevent underboob sweat from seeping through your shirt, all you have to do is cut a pantyliner in half and then overlap the halves so they stick together at an angle. Then place the sticky side of the pantyliner to the bottom portion of each bra cup, just above the underwire, and stick it into place.

7. Remove Deodorant Stains

Get rid of annoying deodorant stains on your T-shirt by wiping the area with a baby wipe.
